In Loving Memory of
Riley...
Riley quickly captured
the heart of his foster mom (who became his forever mom) and
never let go. He was a special boy who always left smiles
in his wake. His old body finally failed and he is now the
bridge waiting for those who have loved him. He's surely
romping in the fields with his "puppy" in his mouth
and finding all the best sun spots to lay
in.
Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave
paw prints in your heart. Anonymous |

Max Jerome Disbrow
August 16, 1994 ~ December 18, 2005
Dear
Sweetheart,
You asked
me what was my favorite thing about Max.
That was an impossible question.
I miss Max, so
do you, I Love You.
There is
nothing to be sad about. He
is happy. Max
was given a second chance. He chose you.
If you didn’t listen to his request, he never would have
been blessed with the life he had.
You gave him the life any child would only dream of.
He went from living in a cold dirty cage for the first 6
months then 2 nice apartments then 4 beautiful houses… what a
life. He had a better
life because of us and we had a better life because of him.
When Max became ill, he and we know we did everything possible.
We were very attentive to signs of a problem and reacted
without hesitation. We
found the best and because of that the last 2 months of his life
were like the old days.
I will
always smile and think of him when I see anything that starts with
the word Max. He made us happy
when we were sad… he stole our bread and made us mad. He was one of a kind and always a Good Boy!
Max
no longer feels pain. He was stoic until the end.
Think about it, right now Max
is running around on all fours waiting for you to come home.
Lu Lu is watching him and waiting too.
Merry
Christmas Forever
Max Jerome

In Memory of Cody...
a sweet boy overflowing with love and joyfulness, from puppyhood throughout his full 14 years. He had a wonderful, long, happy life and could not have been more adored than he was by his lifetime pal and guardian, Rob. He will be remembered and missed by Rob, Tricia, all his siblings and many friends.
(Look closely at this photo and you will see the angel who arrived at the end of Cody's life to reassure him that he can rest in peace.)

Rest
in Peace, sweet Dory
She
was young at heart but her old body failed her. She's
touched many hearts during the time she was in rescue. We're
blessed to have known her and happy she had a great life with
us. You'll be sadly missed, old girl.

Rest
in Peace....
We
lost Ellie suddenly on 1/23/05 after several mysterious
collapsing "episodes". We are sure she is now
romping and playing at the Rainbow Bridge with all those
wonderful friends that have gone before her. She will be
sadly missed by many in our rescue community. Rest in peace,
dear Ellie.

In
Loving Memory of
my
special boy . . .
He
was dumped off at a shelter during the night, in the prime of
his life, and was found by the staff in the morning - shivering
and sick. A small note was left indicating his name: it said
“Bud”. He was found to have lung cancer and his life
expectancy was short. I met him after he was placed in a foster
home, and I immediately fell in love with his unique
“spirit”. I adopted him in January 2003, and nicknamed him
“Buddha Bud” because of his wise eyes and loving heart.
I
don’t know what his life was like before he came into mine –
I just know that he was such a gift in my life, such a special
presence.
Bud deeply touched all who met and knew him – strangers
and friends alike, including a little Jack Russell named Benny.
He was truly loved and cherished. But the cancer in his
lungs got worse till he was no longer able to breath
comfortably.
He was released from this earth on January 6, 2005, in
the early morning hours . . . He is deeply missed, but will
always remain in the core of my heart – his “true” forever
home . . . be at peace my sweet boy . . . we shall meet again .
. .

A Dear Old Soul...
God saw he was getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
So He put His arms around him and whispered,” Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and slowly fade away. Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, playful paws were put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

Tribute to Boone
We who choose to surround ourselves with lives even more temporary than our own, live in a fragile circle, easily and often breached. Unable to accept its awful gaps, we still would live no other way. We cherish memory as the only certain immortality, never fully understanding the necessary plan.

Peace...
Gracie
suffered from untold fears that wrought her fragile spirit
daily. She is now free from her burdens and can frolic
with the rest of her companions at the Rainbow Bridge. |
 |
Free at last... Elvis
was the unfortunate victim of severe neglect. He survived but at
what cost? Sometimes the damage done by uncaring humans is so
devastating that no amount of love and kindness can repair a
broken spirit. There is no more suffering for Elvis at the
Rainbow Bridge. His spirit is now free. |

Life is too short...
Lily left her family at
the tender age of 3 - much too young for any dog to go.
She was a special dog from the moment she came into
rescue. She had a zest for life and made sure everyone
lived life to the fullest. She left behind a wonderful
family that misses her dearly. Rest in peace, beautiful
girl. |
 |
Rest in Peace
Riley enjoyed life
up until the day he went to the bridge. His family
welcomed him into their home sight unseen and loved him the
short time they had with him. He fetched balls, swam in
the pool, enjoyed leisurely walks, and was a happy old
soul. He was a very special GSP to many who were lucky to
know him and is sorely missed.

The Grand Dame...
Callie Rose was a
"presence" from the moment we met her. She was
calm in demeanor but vibrant in spirit. We knew there was
a special family out there that would value such an incredibly
wise and loving girl. We did find them - they cherished
every moment they had with Callie and she loved them until her
last day on earth. There are some very sad hearts today... |
 |
Sweet memories...
Pixie only had 3 short
months with her new family before she succumbed to cancer.
She was the happiest and most cherished dog and knew how much
she was loved! She touched lots of hearts and will
continue to do so at the Bridge. |
 |
Always remembered....
Bridget's life was cut
short due to an incurable seizure disorder. The time she
had with her family was full of love, warmth, and fun. She
will be greatly missed. |

Tribute to Chester From Jason
Chester came into my life in December 2002, when I rescued him (more like
he rescued me!) at a shelter in Sacramento, CA. I was first interested
in Chester because he looked like a Labrador to me from a distance - and
that was the only kind of dog I had before. Eventually I learned that he was
a German Shorthaired Pointer. I fell in love with him immediately - he just
had a way of showing you that he cared, unlike any dog I have ever had
before. He was very well trained - and for a 4 yr old dog, he was very well
behaved. |
Chester fast became my best friend! He used to love to ride in the
car, go play catch with his Frisbee in the yard, sleep in my bed, etc.
Chester became a very important part of my life, and for the first time in
my life - I finally felt like I had a 'purpose' - like a child of my own to
be responsible for every day. Unfortunately, when I arrived home from work
on 7/10/03, I didn't hear Chester's familiar barking when I pulled into the
driveway. When I went over to his yard to get him, I found Chester lying
dead in his yard. We believe his death was caused by heat
stroke/ exhaustion. Needless to say, I was devastated when I found him,
and continue to try to deal with the loss of my boy. My world just isn't the same without him, I
feel like my heart has been broken, it physically hurts inside - like there
is a big hole in my heart. The good thing is that Chester taught me that I
DO have the capacity to love (at a time when I thought I was emotionally
dead and unable to care about anyone or anything), and I am thankful for
that. I feel honored to have the privilege to have spent the last 8 months
of Chester's life with him, and I will never forget him.

Our Sweet Girl Molly
On
January 21, 2003, Molly
crossed over to the Rainbow
Bridge.
Molly
came to us in the twilight of her life.
We don’t know what joy, sadness, love and loss her
younger years held. All
we know is that with us, she found her forever family and in the
short time we spent together, we loved her a lifetime’s worth.
God
bless and a swift journey, Molly.
We’ll be reunited at the Bridge. |

Rest in
Peace, Dear Boy...
Ace suddenly and tragically went to the
Rainbow Bridge on
8/29/02. He was only with us a short time but was an
inspiration to all who knew him. He was such a gentle
soul and got so much pleasure out of life. He loved
everybody, whether 4-footed or 2-footed, and made each and
every one of them smile. We are all sad over Ace's
passing and miss him terribly. Rest in peace dear boy. |

Another Angel
Roxy
was only with us for a week but what a week it was! She
was loved, cared for, and told how special she was. She touched
many lives in such a short time. We were privileged to
know her and sad that she had to leave us so soon.

Tribute to a Very Special Friend
Henry
(also known as Geoffrey
while in rescue) was a very special rescue dog. We knew it
the moment we met him in the summer of 2001. He was
emaciated and we wondered how he could even stand. He just
wanted to play fetch and enjoy the beautiful day. You see,
Henry always lived for the moment. He never worried about
what happened the day before nor did he begrudge his previous
family for not taking proper care of him. He didn't even
think about what tomorrow would bring. Just now, just this
very moment. Every single person that met him
mentioned how special he was. The smile in this picture is what
he greeted everyone with every day of his short life. He touched
so many lives. People who only met him once still ask
about him to this day. June 18, 2002 was a very sad day
for those he left behind. Henry lost a very difficult
battle with his health and was sent to the Rainbow
Bridge.
We are happy he can be healthy and pain free now and will look
for that smile one day when it's our turn to join him. We
are so blessed to have known him. Smile on, dear
boy. We love you. |

Hank was a sweet young male GSP
in a local shelter who apparently was in advanced stages of heartworm.
After the initial onslaught of symptoms, Hank declined
rapidly. He went to the Rainbow
Bridge on Friday, 8/31/01. He lives on in our hearts and
minds as a tribute to all those animals who die in shelters each
day. |

FOR HOPE
In
November of 1998, rescuer Julie Lupkin was blessed with the
opportunity to know the sweet natured, gentle puppy she called
“Hope”. Hope, a five month old German Shorthaired Pointer was
left in the night drop at Sacramento County Animal Care and
Regulation. With gentle eyes and a beautiful face, Hope made her way
to the adoption kennel. Within a few days, she became ill with what
appeared to be kennel cough. Julie made the decision (at what
seeemed to be a plea for help in her humanlike eyes) to take her
home and nurse her back to health. Despite Julie's sincere devotion
and best efforts her condition worsened rapidly. Hope, not only
suffered from kennel cough, but was diagnosed Parvo positive. She
elected to hospitalize Hope in an effort to save her life. Hope won
the battle against Parvo but with little left to fight with,
pneumonia complicated her recovery and triggered distemper. Although
her spirit to live was strong her frail little body was not. Hope
left on the wings of angels on December 21, 1998. Julie began a
special needs medical program that she dedicated to Hope with hope
and gratitude for sharing her brief but beautiful life with her. She
is still an inspiration to Julie's rescue work today. |
